Is the smog retest completely free?
The test is available at a special low rate. Upon passing, you must pay for the Smog Certificate, which is mandatory for vehicle registration renewals that require a smog test.
My DMV notice says I need a STAR station. What does that mean?
The DMV has directed your vehicle to a certified STAR station, due to test history or random selection. STAR stations can test any vehicle; a regular smog shop cannot test a directed vehicle. We are STAR certified.
How often do I need a smog check in California?
Most vehicles need a smog check every two years at registration renewal. Vehicles 8 model years or newer are usually exempt and pay a smog abatement fee instead. Your DMV renewal notice specifies whether a smog check is required.
